Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! When I was young this was the best and the worst time of Christmas. The best part was the food, having family all around. Listening to the laughter. But the worst part for me was the anticipation. At this point I has gropred every present under the tree. I had memorized the dimensions, the weight, the consistency. I even knew who the present was from. And better yet I knew Santa was coming. The numbers would change, but how much? Last year Santa did a great job, did he read my list this year?
It seemed like time practically froze, it moved so slow. I would count the hours until 7 AM. That is the time we would officially all get up to open presents.
Right before we went to bed, we would make Santa and his Reindeer a big plate of food! The first thing I would check in the morning was the food, to see if Santa enjoyed it. He always did. The plate was always emptied except for some crumbs. The reindeer always ate their carrots and cookies. They were the messy eaters, and always left the top half of the carrots, and lots of cookie crumbs.
Another reason everyone should write some kind of blog. It makes me reflect, when otherwise I would not.
My Son, who is 11 now, has always been kind of hard to shop for. He just was never into toys, bikes, video games, real games, or even clothes. He just always wanted legos. But this year I think I did good. He has gotten into working our, and he uses my wifes little 5 and 10 pound dumbbells. He does pushups, and even runs around the block. So, I bought him a real dumbell set. It comes two dumbbell bars, different size weights so each dumbbell can weigh up to 40 pounds, and 4 collars to hold the weights onto the dumbbell bars. The cool part is it all comes in a really nice case.
I also got him one cowbell that weighs 25 pounds (for training the back) and two push up handle bars ( you hold on to them instead of putting your hands flat on the ground when doing push ups).
I got my wife exactly what she wanted. I bought her a really nice Ninja air fryer. She has been talking about getting one all year. She loves to cook, and I love to eat her meals, so I gave it to her a week ago so she could use it for her Holiday meals.
Since I have gotten older, the biggest present for me is to make it through another year, and to see my wife and son happy. I will also make a few plates up, drive around town, and pass them out to some homeless people. There is about 5 to 10 homeless people I see almost every day at our local 7-11. I talk about Veteran Support helping veterans. We also help a lot of homeless people in my neighborhood.
